CROCHET

Learn the basics of the hook, including chain, slip, single, half-double, and double crochet stitches.
Materials: one skein or ball of smooth light colored worsted weight yarn, one size H crochet hook

Hook: size C/2.5mm
Gauge: 15 sts/7 rows in double crochet=2″, gauge needn’t be exact, cuff length can easily be modified.
Notions: two buttons (use up those spare shirt buttons!), tapestry needle, sewing needle and thread
Finished size: 2.75″ wide by 7″ long, length can be adjusted to fit your wrist measurement

Handspun self-striping yarns
Learn how to spin and ply your own self-striping sock yarns (or any thickness!) using the Navajo Plying method. Spinning a striping single is easy enough, but learn how to make a sturdy, balanced yarn that stripes beautifully! We will discuss how to choose space dyed rovings , how to split rovings to control stripe repeats, how to get sharp versus blended transitions, and how to gauge the final thickness of a three-ply yarn.
